A trucker driving a 20-tonne 'killing machine' while than seven times the drug-drive limit has been banned from the roads.

Mitchell Goodman, 53, was driving the lorry on Landor Street in Birmingham when police officers stopped him after they suspected him of driving while on drugs and not wearing a seatbelt.

The 53-year-old got out of the truck and the officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis just after 10am on June 25.

Asked why he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt he said: “I didn’t think any of the truckers had to wear seatbelts, I’m aware of the law but didn’t think you had to wear seatbelts".
