ST. LOUIS — A woman picked up by a rideshare driver early Tuesday was shot to death by a person on the street who fired at the passing car, authorities said.
St. Louis homicide detectives have taken a man into custody and were questioning him in the killing, said police Lt. John Blaskiewicz.
The woman was shot in the 6100 block of North Broadway about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. She had just been picked up by a rideshare driver when someone outside the vehicle fired at the car, Blaskiewicz said.
The driver rushed the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.
The woman's name has not been released.
Investigators said it appears the woman did not know the man who fired at her. Detectives were trying to find out his motivation as they continue to investigate
