Alaska is dealing with the after-effects of Typhoon Halong, which left one person dead and three more missing, according to officials.

Typhoon Halong formed into a tropical storm on Oct. 5, in the Northern Philippine Sea, according to the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) Satelite Library . On Oct. 7, it formed into a Category 4 typhoon before approaching Japan's Izu Islands, then weakened to a Category 3 as it passed Hachijō-jima, a town in Tokyo, Japan. Remnants of the storm later hit Alaska's coast.
