Tuesday, Oct. 14, has been designated by the U.S. Senate as a day of remembrance for Charlie Kirk , in honor of what would have been his 32nd birthday.

Kirk, a conservative activist and cofounder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on Sept. 10 during an appearance at Utah Valley University.

The U.S. Senate considered and agreed to a resolution in September to honor Kirk's memory on Oct. 14. The 22 cosponsors include Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

The day of remembrance resolution called the slain conservative influencer a "champion of free speech, dialogue, and faith."

On the evening of Oct. 14, President Donald Trump is set to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest civilian honor in the U.S.
