The Macomb County Finance Department’s annual budget is proposed to increase by 12% next year, highlighted by the potential addition of three employees to try to achieve timely audit reports in the coming years.
The department’s annual proposed spending guide for 2026 was presented last week to the county Board of Commissioners at a budget of the finance committee by former deputy executive Vicki Wolber, who filled in this year as county special projects advisor and essentially the finance director.
The two newly-created audit employees in the department would be “dedicated to working on the audit throughout the year to make sure we’re audit ready and keeping us on track,” Wolber told the board Oct. 7.
