A man has been taken into custody over a stabbing death at a home on a suburban cul-de-sac.

Neighbours were stunned when emergency services raced down Dimitrios Ct in Hocking, in Perth ’s north, about 6.45am on Tuesday.

It is understood a man in his 50s was stabbed in the neck.

He was rushed by ambulance to hospital in a critical condition but could not be saved and died from his injuries, WA Police said.

In an update on Tuesday afternoon, they said a man had been taken into custody and was assisting detectives.

“There is no threat to public safety,” authorities said.

No charges have been laid.
