GREENDALE, Indiana (WXIX) - A southeastern Indiana elected official is accused of stealing more money from a local civil club than originally announced, according to newly filed court records and prosecutors.
Greendale City Councilman Brett “Mooch” Hamilton, 46, stole more than $100,000 from the Dillsboro Civic Club for personal gain while he served as president from 2018 until earlier this year, Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens tells FOX19 NOW.
“We’re all alleging he has taken $115,000,” she said Tuesday.
Some of the expenses on the club’s credit card “could be legitimate,” she acknowledged.
“But,” she stressed, “we’re definitely asserting that it’s a substantial amount of money over $100,000 allegedly taken.”
