LSU women's basketball will begin the fifth season of coach Kim Mulkey's tenure as a top-five team.

The Tigers are ranked No. 5 in the AP preseason poll, which was revealed Tuesday. They sit behind only No. 1 UConn, No. 2 South Carolina, No. 3 UCLA and No. 4 Texas.

For LSU, the preseason ranking is the second-highest of the Mulkey era. After the Tigers won the 2023 national championship, they opened the 2023-2024 season as the nation's No. 1 team. They began last year ranked seventh, then finished eighth after they lost to UCLA in the Elite Eight.
