ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

As the Albuquerque mayoral race approaches Election Day in three weeks, candidates are looking at how to spend their funds wisely.

Mayor Tim Keller leads in funding, as he's the only candidate to qualify for public financing, receiving over $755,000 from the city.

His five challengers, relying only on private fundraising, have raised less than $230,000 each, according to last month's campaign finance report.

Brian Sanderoff, KOAT's political expert, said candidates with limited funds need to be smart and creative in reaching voters. "They might focus more on social media and streaming services and the like.
