SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A four-year-old is still in critical condition after being stranded in Big Cottonwood Canyon with their family over the weekend, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.

In an updated press release on Tuesday, the Sheriff's office said that on Oct. 11, Micah Smith, 31, and his three children went for a hike near the area of Broads Fork Trail up Big Cottonwood Canyon. The family was later reported missing.

Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, DPS Aero Bureau, and Life Flight responded and began aerial search efforts. First responders were able to find the missing family Sunday morning after having been stranded overnight.
