Cody Balmer, the Harrisburg man charged with firebombing the Governor's Residence in April as Gov. Josh Shapiro, his family and guests slept inside, pleaded guilty to attempted murder with a sentencing enhancement for terrorism on Tuesday.

Balmer, 38, will serve 25 to 50 years in prison. He'll be eligible for parole in 2050 when he is 63 years old.

Balmer, who confessed to police when he was arrested hours after starting the the fire on April 13, said that he disagreed with Shapiro's position on the Israeli response to the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas that killed more than 1,100 people.
