ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An officer has been shot after police responded to a Sandy Springs home on Tuesday, according to the city’s police department.

Officers were called to the home in the area of Carroll Manor Drive and North River Parkway at around 11:10 a.m. for reports of gunfire. They were shot at when entering the home, leading to the officer being grazed in the thumb.

The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover.

The suspect, who also has not been identified, is still barricaded in the home as of 1:20 p.m. Officers are working to extract him from the building.
