A devastating fire engulfed a private bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur on Tuesday afternoon, killing at least 20 passengers and injuring over a dozen others.
The incident occurred around 3 PM when smoke was spotted billowing from the rear of the bus, prompting the driver to halt the vehicle on the roadside. Within moments, flames spread rapidly, trapping passengers inside.
The bus was carrying 57 people. Locals and passers-by rushed to help, while fire tenders and police arrived promptly. The injured were initially taken to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer, with 16 critically wounded later referred to Jodhpur for advanced care.
