Michigan and Michigan State will both start the 2025-26 women’s college basketball season in the AP Top 25 poll.

The Wolverines were voted No. 13, while Michigan State was No. 23. UCLA (No. 3) and Maryland (10) were the top-ranked Big Ten teams, with USC (18) and Iowa (21) also in the poll.

Connecticut, last season’s national champion, was No. 1, followed by the runner-up South Carolina. UConn received 27 first-place votes; South Carolina received the other four. Last season’s other two Final Four teams, UCLA and Texas, were next in the rankings. LSU rounded out the top five.

In the preseason Big Ten polls , which ranked the top five teams, Michigan was picked third by the coaches and fourth by the media. The Wolverines finished 23-11 last season and lost in the second round of the NC
