It’s been a rough season for C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
The safety was released by the Ravens on Tuesday, marking the second time he has been cut this season already.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the split was “an amicable mutual decision,” according to Gardner-Johnson’s agent, Kevin Conner.
It comes after the Ravens, who are off to a shocking 1-5 start and headed into their bye week, traded for another safety, Alohi Gilman, in a deal with the Chargers last week.

“After the Ravens traded for a safety, we were looking for a clearer path to play,” Conner told ESPN.
The 27-year-old Gardner-Johnson was released by the Texans earlier this season after the Eagles traded him to Houston in the offseason.
