A police officer involved in a high-speed chase that ended with the death of a Hartselle teenager will soon be back on the job.

The Priceville City Council reversed the firing of Garry Chapman during an appeal hearing on Monday. According to WHNT , Chapman will be able to return to the job after a 10-day unpaid suspension. Once he returns, he will be placed on work probation and must complete retraining with a supervisor.

Fox 54 reported the Priceville council met in executive session for three hours before reinstating Chapman.

Chapman, son of Duane Chapman, better known as reality TV star Dog the Bounty Hunter, was fired in connection to a chase of an alleged drunk driver on Sept. 6. The chase ended in the nearby city of Hartselle when the suspect, Archie Hale, hit another vehicle
