An investigation is underway in Lauderdale Lakes on Tuesday afternoon after a deputy shot a dog, officials said.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, deputies and Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue arrived near the 3900 block of Northwest 35th Avenue after receiving reports of a man who was bitten by a dog.
Once at the scene, deputies found the dog, which tried to attack a deputy, investigators said.
The deputy was then forced to fire their weapon, and the dog was injured.
The man who was bitten was taken to an area hospital for treatment, while Broward County Animal Care took the dog.
BSO's Internal Affairs has taken over the investigation.
