DES MOINES, Iowa -- In the wake of the immigration detention of former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts, and later federal gun charges, questions about financial matters in the DMPS district have been raised.
Some Republican lawmakers have even called on Iowa Auditor Rob Sand, the only Democrat holding statewide elected office, to audit the school district to determine whether there were any improperly spent funds during Roberts' tenure.
