King County Assessor John Wilson, whose campaign for county executive was derailed earlier this year by allegations of stalking and harassment from his ex-fiancée, apologized Tuesday and said he would not seek another term as assessor.

“I want to make my sincere apology to my former fiancé Lee Keller,” Wilson wrote in a campaign email. “I fell short of standards of behavior I have always tried to practice. I ask her forgiveness.”

Wilson was arrested outside Keller’s house in July on investigation of stalking and violating a court order, after police say he drove to her house on at least three recent occasions in violation of a restraining order.

He had been under a temporary restraining order since May, the second such order issued against him since 2024.
