Demolition Begins on Penn State’s Kepler Barn

After several years of leading the effort to save an historic barn with ties to her family, Vicky Kepler Didato is now dealing with the reality that the structure will soon become a memory.

Penn State, which owns the large white barn along Route 45 in Ferguson Township, began the demolition process Tuesday as workers were seen removing the roof on one of the additions.

The nearly 200-years-old Kepler barn is owned by Penn State as part of its Rock Springs research farm. Last year, the university slated it to be demolished, saying it’s too costly to repair.
