COLUMBUS, Ohio —

A Franklin County judge has temporarily blocked Gov. Mike DeWine from banning intoxicating hemp products in Ohio amid a lawsuit.

Starting on Tuesday, Ohio retailers would have been required to remove intoxicating hemp products from shelves and cease all sales or be subject to a fine. Advertisement

Fumee Smoke and Vape, Invicta Nutraceuticals, and Titan Logistics Group filed a civil suit against DeWine and the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

The judge who issued the restraining order heard arguments on Tuesday and issued a temporary block against the ban.

In the lawsuit, the three companies claim DeWine’s order is “unlawful,” and said there is no evidence that hemp products pose a health threat.
