AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - After an appeals delay, the lawsuit challenging the cancellation of a charity drag show at West Texas A&M University will soon be back in Amarillo’s federal court.

According to court documents, amended filings are due later this month and the trial is set for February.

The two-year-old suit is challenging WT President Walter Wendler and vice president Christopher Thomas to keep another cancellation from happening.

A Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in August sent the case back to Amarillo.

The core question is whether Wendler violated the constitutional free speech rights of student advocacy group Spectrum WT.
