CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Promontory in Hyde Park is closing.

The event venue announced on social media Monday night that it will shut its doors by the end of the year.

It's been open at 5311 S. Lake Park Ave. on the South Side for 11 years.

The Promontory did not give a reason for closing but says it will be open until its New Year's Eve party.

"Thank you, Hyde Park and University of Chicago. Thank you, our loyal employees. And thank you, our cherished customers, for letting us serve you," the message said.
