A Marion County teen who deputies say faked his own abduction and shot himself in the leg to cover it up has been arrested.

The 17-year-old was reported missing on Sept. 25 after he told family he was taken by a group of males. An Amber Alert was issued.

He was found the next day when the Williston Police Department said officers located him in Levy County, northwest of Ocala.

He faces the following charges:

Presenting false evidence

Shooting into a conveyance

Making a False report of a crime

Possession of a firearm by a minor
