Evans police seized nearly 3,000 fentanyl pills across a pair of arrests earlier this month.

Nicolette Ortiz, 36, was arrested Oct. 2 with 1,540 pills, and Isaiah Benivamonde, 31, was arrested Oct. 5 with 1,229 pills, according to arrest records.

Both face charges of intent to distribute more than 50 grams of fentanyl, a Class 1 felony, and petty offenses for paraphernalia, according to Colorado court records. Benivamonde also faces a misdemeanor charge for obstructing a peace officer, records show.

Around 12:45 a.m. Oct. 2, police pulled over a blue Subaru Legacy near 11th Avenue and 37th Street because it did not have a rear license plate light, according to an arrest affidavit.
