A spot on the practice squad in Foxborough has opened through a series of moves.

The New England Patriots announced the signing of tight end Marshall Lang on Tuesday afternoon. In turn, tight end Gee Scott Jr. and defensive back Tyron Herring were both released from a group that stood at its 17-man limit.

Lang, 23, had been among a trio of tight ends hosted for workouts at Gillette Stadium during the first week of September. The 6-foot-4, 252-pound Northwestern product signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a rookie free agent following the 2025 NFL draft. He was waived at the league’s 53-man roster deadline in August. Lang’s Wildcats career spanned 52 games, including 21 starts, dating back to 2020. It featured 48 receptions for 491 yards and four touchdowns.
