The Community Chorus of Redlands will open its 2025–26 season with “NuestraComunidad,” a concert celebrating the musical traditions of Latin America, 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Redlands.

The program will feature the world premiere of “Trovador,” a new work for choir and mariachi instruments by Alejandro Ruiz, a composer, guitarist, jazz pianist and Town & Gown Scholarship recipient at the University of Redlands.

Ruiz’s composition combines classical choral writing with the color of mariachi and explores themes of heritage, connection and shared identity, according to a news release from the Community Chorus of Redlands.

Joining the chorus for this performance are St. Mary’s Ballet Folklórico of Redlands and Mariachi Tierras Rojas from the University of Redlan
