Senate Republicans formally voted for state Sen. Jim Boyd to lead the chamber after the 2026 elections during an Oct. 14 ceremony in the Capitol.
Boyd, 68, lives in Bradenton and owns an insurance and investment firm. He was first elected to the House in 2010 before moving to the Senate in 2020.
In his acceptance speech, Boyd pledged to safeguard taxpayer dollars and protect the environment. He also acknowledged the many problems facing the state, largely due to the rise in population as more people flock to Florida.
