SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California (KOLO) - The South Lake Tahoe City Council will be meeting next Tuesday to discuss the vacancy left by the resignation of Mayor Tamara Wallace.
Wallace sent her resignation letter to the City Clerk just before 11:00 p.m. on Monday. Her resignation comes after she confessed to embezzling funds from a church in the city.
The council will be meeting on Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the vacant city council seat. Under California law, the council is required to either fill the seat or call a special election within 60 days of the start of the vacancy.
The meeting will also include a report on the status of city operations, the reorganization of the Council, and Council appointments to vacant board and commission seats.
