BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being hit by a car on Monday evening.

A busy Brooklyn intersection has turned into a crime scene after police say a driver with no regard or mercy hit the boy who was riding a scooter, and kept going.

The crash happened near 2183 Ocean Pkwy. around 5:50 p.m.

Police say the driver was possibly speeding and that the impact was so hard, debris from the car hit a 25-year-old man.

The suspected vehicle involved, a 2026 Acura Integra, was later found abandoned less than a mile from the scene.

Police believe the driver fled on foot and has yet to be found.

The child was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and is in critical condition. The 25-year-old was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.
