The third film in the Dune franchise is in the works and there are going to be some major updates to the cast.

Director Denis Villeneuve recently shared details about Dune: Messiah , which seemingly will be the final one in the series.

“I’m in the writing zone right now,” he told Deadline in an October 2024 interview, adding that the next movie will be completely different than the first two films.

“I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different. The story takes place like 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two . Their journey, their story is different this time, and that’s why I always say that while it’s the same world it’s a new film with new circumstances,” Denis said.
