Two men arrested two years ago in a roundup of more than a dozen suspects in a grandparent scam were sentenced at the Montreal courthouse on Tuesday.
Christian Valdes, 31, of Chambly, was sentenced at the Montreal courthouse to a prison term that he will have to serve behind bars while Jared Fogel, 35, of Laval, received a sentence that involves house arrest and a requirement that he perform 240 hours of community service.
Quebec Court Judge Julie Riendeau agreed to the joint recommendations made on both sentences by prosecutor Erik Cookson-Montin and the two defence lawyers in the respective cases.
