SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - From 2011 to 2020, 43 police officers were killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic call.
With the onset of fall and winter comes an increased likelihood for law enforcement to encounter domestic disturbance calls.
The Springfield Police Department sends more than one officer to domestic violence calls.
“Often, tensions are high, or people are upset during domestic calls for service, and it can involve multiple family members,” said Lt. Brandon Penrose of the Springfield Police Department. That is why the department sends at least two officers to these calls.
