(WPRI) — Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey released a letter on Tuesday, calling on the state's Department of Public Utilities (DPU) to review electric rates, gas rates and related charges in an attempt to lower energy costs.

"I'm focused on doubling down on what we can do within our power to lower people's costs and to lower their bills," Healey said during a press conference on Tuesday. "They should make sure that every dollar that utilities collect for infrastructure is necessary and is used as efficiently as possible."

Healey also said she is planning to work with the DPU to increase the state's energy supply and drive down costs with things like solar, hydro and nuclear power.
