BUFFALO, N.Y. — Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman, the special prosecutor in the case of Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotics Chief D.J. Granville, announced Friday that no criminal charges would be filed against any of the Buffalo police officers who responded to the scene of Granville’s hit-and-run crashes.

Granville, who pleaded guilty in August to reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident, crashed into seven parked cars on Buffalo’s West Side in a county-owned vehicle. He was fined $550 and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.

Seaman said in a written statement that after reviewing all available evidence, he found “insufficient evidence from which to charge any of the responding police officers or Lt. Lucia Esquilin with violations of criminal law.”
