The Clark women’s soccer team put up a tough fight, losing 1-0 to first-place Tacoma on the road Saturday.

Clark goalkeeper Ella Lulich made 12 saves, allowing only a goal in the 49th minute. That kept the Penguins in the match on a day they were outshot 24-4.

Saturday’s result came after the Penguins beat South Puget Sound 2-0 on Wednesday. Zaiah Menlove scored in the 36th minute followed by Isabel McCauley in first-half stoppage time.

With four matches left in the regular season, Clark is in a tight race for postseason seeding. At 4-3-2 with 14 points, the Penguins are in fourth place in the Northwest Athletic Conference West Region behind Tacoma (25 points), Highline (20 points) and Centralia (15 points).
