A 20-year-old man is being held without bond for his alleged role in the killing of a 15-year-old girl last week in Cocoa.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said it is still searching for a second suspect in what it called a targeted attack.
Jonterich Smith, 20, was arrested in Volusia County earlier this week.
“This deputy conducted a traffic stop, and he had no idea that sitting in that vehicle was somebody who was wanted for murdering a 15-year-old girl and shooting two other people in a neighboring county,” Volusia County Chief Deputy Brian Henderson said.
Body camera video from deputies shows Smith being handcuffed after the stop.
“In addition to locating Jonterich Smith with his warrants in the vehicle, they also arrested the driver under the super speeder law,” Henderson said
