INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts plan on addressing their need at quarterback by signing Brett Rypien to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Rypien, 29, has appeared in just 11 games with four starts and 98 pass attempts with Denver, the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati since 2020. He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with Denver in 2019.
The former Boise State standout was signed to Cincinnati’s practice squad in late August and elevated to the active roster as Jake Browning’s backup after Joe Burrow suffered a toe injury that required surgery.
The Bengals released Rypien last week after acquiring Joe Flacco in a trade with Cleveland.
