The Government of Alberta has officially launched the parent payment portal, and applications are now open for the parent payment program that will support families during the teachers’ strike.
The parent payment program is set to provide families with $30 per day, per student, for the duration of the strike. The initiative is meant to help families with children with extra costs they may face while children are at home during the strike.
Those hoping to apply can do so on Alberta.ca by logging into their account and registering on the parent portal.
To be eligible, applicants must be the parent or guardian of a child aged 12 or under and must be enrolled in a public, catholic or francophone school. The parent and child must also be residents of Alberta.
