COROLLA, N.C. (WITN) - The Corolla Wild Horse Fund announced that one of its wild stallions was euthanized last week after battling a severe case of colic.
JW, also known as Jumper, was removed from the wild on September 20th after showing symptoms of colic. He initially responded well to treatment, but the episodes returned, and he continued to show signs of discomfort despite medication.
JW was humanely euthanized on Friday after his symptoms worsened during an episode. The veterinarian and herd management team considered his history, age, and the severity of the episode before making the decision.
He was believed to be in his 30s and had a habit of jumping in and out of the Carova Beach Park, where visitors would often spot him.
JW was laid to rest Friday night on the farm near his
