(Reuters) -President Donald Trump’s administration in a court filing on Tuesday said 778 employees of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services were laid off in error last week amid a partial government shutdown.

An HHS official said in the filing the mistake was due to “data discrepancies and processing errors,” and 1,760 employees received layoff notices instead of the intended 982.
