Former Jets center Nick Mangold is asking the public for help after he revealed Tuesday that he is in need of a kidney transplant.

Mangold, 41, made the shocking disclosure on social media in an open letter to fans of the Jets and Ohio State, his alma mater.

“This isn’t an easy message to share,” Mangold began the letter, in which he detailed that in 2006, the same year the Jets drafted him in the first round ,Mangold was diagnosed with a genetic defect that led to chronic kidney disease.

"After a rough summer, I’m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant," Mangold wrote. “I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have had more time.
