Beyoncé is paying homage to D’Angelo after his passing.

On Tuesday (October 14), it was announced that the soul music legend, whose real name is Michael Eugene Archer , passed away following a private battle with pancreatic cancer.

After his death, Beyoncé , 44, took to her website to pen a touching tribute to the late four-time Grammy winner.

“Rest in peace, Michael Eugene Archer, known to the world of music as the inimitable D’Angelo,” she wrote while sharing a black-and-white photo of D’Angelo .

“We thank you for your beautiful music, your voice, your proficiency on the piano, your artistry,” Beyoncé continued. “You were the pioneer of neo-soul and that changed and transformed rhythm & blues forever. We will never forget you.”
