PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A musician is asking for community support after thieves stole her custom-built guitars from her car in a smash-and-grab robbery on the Central Eastside.

Maeve Curtis, who has been performing music for 20 years, lost her dream guitar and a bass in the break-in that occurred just blocks away from a mural reading “Support Working Artists.”

“I have been performing as a musician since I was 14, so 20 years ago,” Curtis said. “I’ve been in bands, toured around, just a music-filled life really.”

The stolen equipment included Curtis’s custom-built Jazzmaster guitar, which she spent the last year building, and a bass guitar — totaling about $3,000 worth of music equipment.
