Konstantinos Mastrokalos made five saves for the Mustangs, who will face fifth-seeded Holmdel Thursday in a second-round game.
Rishab Krishnan had a pair of assists for Marlboro (5-3-4).
Ranney (10-5) has lost four of five games since the end of its nine-game win streak.
