Members of the air traffic controllers’ union and other aviation professionals spent Tuesday leafletting at 14 different airports around the country, including LaGuardia, in the hopes of educating the public about the consequences of the shutdown.

“If it goes on like it did the last time for 35 days, that’s going to add some real stress to my family,” said Ray Dahlstrom, a union representative for the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.
