WASHINGTON, D.C. –The federal government shutdown continues, and there doesn’t appear to be any progress expected this week.
The House passed a clean continuing resolution, which was then sent to the Senate. On Tuesday, the resolution failed for the eighth time. This follows the government shutdown that began in October, after lawmakers failed to allocate funding for 438 government agencies.
Senate Democrats want to ensure that Medicaid cuts are reversed and that Affordable Care Act insurance subsidies are extended before they expire on December 31.
West Virginia Second District Congressman Riley Moore appeared on MetroNews Talkline Tuesday morning, stating that the subsidies are a tax issue, not a funding issue, something the clean resolution would help address
