The Indianapolis Colts have signed a notable quarterback after placing backup Anthony Richardson on the injured reserve.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Colts signed veteran journeyman Brett Rypien to their practice squad. Anthony Richardson was placed on the injured reserve with an orbital eye fracture that he suffered during warmups in an unfortunate accident with an elastic band.

Daniel Jones, who’s in the midst of a career year, remains the starting quarterback. Rookie Riley Leonard, a sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame, will be the No. 2 quarterback behind Jones.

The nephew of former Washington quarterback and Super Bowl champion Mark Rypien, Brett Rypien has started four games over his NFL career. He went 2-1 as the Denver Broncos’ starter and made one start for the Los Angel
