SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - In South Hadley, a meeting took place Tuesday night to discuss a proposed generational ban on nicotine items.

The new framework would ban adults born on or after a specific date from ever being able to buy tobacco or nicotine products.

This would include cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and pouches.

Retail and convenience stores, however, are arguing it is a discriminatory ban, treating younger people differently than those older. They also argue that it does nothing to address underage youth.
