OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Southern Iowa Mental Health Center new care closet is designed to provide essential items beyond medical care.
“It may look like it’s just clothing and supplies but it’s truly a lifeline for people that come to us in need,” said Care Coordinator Kindra Decker.
Decker said the care closet offers resources to patients outside of the center’s walls.
“It’s alleviating them right here so they can kind of have an all-around access to care. That way they are meeting all of their needs,” said Decker.
The care closet offers 24/7 access to a variety of items, to make visits easier for patients.
“We kind of have a mix of everything we have clothing men’s and women’s some children’s a lot were focusing on winter coats right now,” said Decker.
